Kolmar Families & Friends,

Happy Spring! The weather has gotten warmer, the sun has come out from behind the clouds, and the day is getting longer. Spring time brings about flowers, sun, warmer weather, and outside activities. I am so ready for Spring this year, are you?

It is hard to believe that one year ago we had to abruptly close school due to COVID-19. Over the course of the year, we learned many things about ourselves and our families. Spending more time at home and less time with others challenged us. Look how far we have come! I am very thankful that we are able to have our students back in school learning. The time away from them was difficult, but we are getting back into a routine and enjoying school again.

Trimester 3 began on March 2. Students will be finishing up units and beginning to close out the year. Our 8th grade students will be looking forward to their graduation on June 2. I encourage all students to continue putting forth their best effort and closing out the year on a positive note. You can do it! If you are having concerns about your child's progress, please reach out to your child's teacher via email or phone.

Midlothian School District continues to distribute meals to our InPerson students at the end of the school day. InPerson students receive lunch and breakfast for the following day as they leave from school. If any family is interested in picking up meals, they may do so on Monday and Thursday from 7:30 am until 9:30 am at Central Park School.

Every morning, students are greeted by their teachers (either remotely or in-person) by 8:20 am and hold a community circle. Students learn about their classmates, their teachers, their feelings, the 8 keys of excellence, their names, and develop a safe space to share thoughts and ideas. Each day begins in a way that allows our students and teachers to take a breath and get them ready for the school day. Ask your child what they are doing each morning in Community and what they have learned about themselves and their classmates.

As we enter the spring season where allergies and colds begin to develop, it is more important than every to remember to wash our hands, wear our masks, and socially distance so that we can keep our school open. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home and call the school office. Also, please reach out to the school office if you have questions.
