Welcome back Kolmar students and families!
I am very excited to introduce myself as the new Principal of Kolmar School. My name is Kelly Andruch and I have been an employee of Midlothian School District 143 for the last 18 years. I began my teaching career at Kolmar School in 2001 as a Junior High teacher. Over the course of 12 years, I had the pleasure of working with 7th and 8th-grade students in all content areas, with the main focus in mathematics. In 2013, I traveled over to Central Park School to become Dean of Students. The next year, I was moved to Assistant Principal, where I remained for 5 years.
In addition to working with the students and families of Midlothian School District 143, I am a wife and mother of two daughters. This school year they will be in eighth-grade and fifth-grade. Their excitement for school and learning is a reminder of how I want your children to come to school each day.
While I begin this school year in a new role, there will be plenty of familiar, friendly faces along with a few that will be new to you. Mr. Michael Lackenbach joins the Kolmar team, along with Mr. Brian Nievera as the Assistant Principals. Ms. Meghan Lazzara joins us to teach 2nd-grade, Mrs. Lindsay Burrell 3rd-grade, and Ms. Nicole Ames 4th-grade. Ms. Shannon Watkins will have your children playing musical instruments in music class, Mr. Kenneth Hiemer will explore history with our Junior High students, Ms. Jamie Harcar will be making your students sweat in PE class, and Mr. Mike Wagonblott will be sharing his science expertise with our 8th-grade students. Additionally, Mr. Tim Chernobrov will be helping our beginning band students learn their instruments and begin to play in the Midlothian School District 143 Band.
I look forward to meeting as many students and families as possible at our Back to School Night on Monday, August 26 at 6:15 pm. Please stop into your child's classroom, introduce yourself to the teacher, drop off school supplies and prepare for our first day of school. Junior High students will also get their schedules and lockers.
At Back to School Night, stop by the Parent Group table for information about our first parent group meeting and to sign up for holiday parties. We invite you to join us at the first regularly scheduled meeting on September 4 at 9:30 am.
I look forward to a wonderful school year!
