Kolmar Families & Friends,
Happy New Year! I am so excited that we are beginning new year and I am hopeful that 2021 will be an amazing year for our Mustang community. I hope all students and families were able to have a wonderful, restful break and you were able to enjoy some time with family and friends (socially distant, of course).
A new year often brings about thoughts of renewal and change. This year, I challenge everyone to reflect on the past year and decide what you would like to do differently. This year, I am challenging myself to take more pictures and read more. I have been off to a great start and cannot wait to see the Kolmar Mustangs in person so I can share some pictures of the wonderful things that we are doing in school with our community.
From January 7 through January 18, all students will remain remote during our adaptive pause. Remember to have your child sign on each day by 8:20 am. Teachers and staff will also be remote during this time. On January 19, we will welcome back all of our in-person students and teachers will continue with concurrent learning. I look forward to seeing everyone, whether remotely or in person.
Preferred Meals will continue distributing breakfast and lunch to our district families while we are on the adaptive pause. Parents can pick up meals on January 7, January 11, and January 14 between the hours of 7:30 am and 9:30 am. When we return after the adaptive pause, our meals will continue to be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays from 7:30 am until 9:30 am. Families may pick up at Kolmar School or Central Park School. When we return on January 19, in-person students will continue to receive a bagged lunch and breakfast for the following day Monday through Friday.
Every morning, students are greeted by their teachers (either remotely or in-person) by 8:20 am and hold a community circle. Students learn about their classmates, their teachers, their feelings, the 8 keys of excellence, and develop a safe space to share thoughts and ideas. Each day begins in a way that allows our students and teachers to take a breath and get them ready for the school day. Ask your child what they are doing each morning in Community and what they have learned about themselves and their classmates.
Trimester #2 began on November 23 and continues through February 26. On Thursday, February 11 and Friday, February 12, Kolmar School will host virtual Parent-Teacher Conferences. A message will be sent to all families with more information about times and scheduling by the end of January. Please be on the lookout for an email message from the district. If you are having concerns about your child's progress, please reach out to your child's teacher via email or phone.
As we continue with the winter months, it is more important than every to remember to wash our hands, wear our masks, and socially distance so that we can keep our school open. If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home and call the school office. Also, please reach out to the school office if you have questions.
