I am sure many of you are wondering what school will look like in August. I am hopeful that we will be able to physically be in school with our students. At this time, no decisions have been made as to how and when our students will return to us. The district is monitoring the situation and working to develop plans for returning to school, continuing with remote learning, or a hybrid of the two. As decisions are made, we will update our families. Please continue to monitor the district web page for the most up-to-date information.
In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused so much uncertainty these last few months, our country continues to struggle with social injustice and racial inequality. You have my pledge that Kolmar School will explore what and how we have been teaching. We will invest in trade books that are more inclusive and are written by diverse authors. We will continue to improve our work with our curriculum and instruction to ensure that they are reflective of the communities that we serve. We - and I - have so much more work to do. We know better and we must do better.
When we return to school, we will be looking for parents to work alongside our current Kolmar Parent Group members. Please consider coming out to a Kolmar Parent Group meeting (dates TBD) or attending one of the events put on during the year. Our students look forward to these events and love to see their parents helping at their school.
Enjoy the beautiful summer weather and the company of each other. Know you are missed and loved.
ATTENDANCE - Please use the 24-hour attendance line (708-385-6747) to call in an absence for your children.
If your phone number or emergency contacts have changed since registration, send a note to the school office so we can update your records, helping us to better serve your needs.
